Taking the $72,295-added Level (L) 4 and $37,210-added 3 Non Pro Futurity Championships was young Andreu Nogue Puig of Spain riding his hard-stopping mare Simple The Best 66 (Inferno Sixty Six x ARC Yellow N Lime) bred by Ambrosini Quarter Horses of Italy.
“Coming back to this arena after the last Futurity winning was very exciting and at the same time I was a bit under pressure because the Futurity is always the Futurity!” said the 20-year-old rider from Spain. “My mare is really special and is so talented. I purchased her when she was five months old from Beppe Bruno and she's out of a mare bred by Ambrosini QH. I took her to Spain, broke her and I loved her from day one. Having grown with her after being the first to ride her is truly something special. After training her for nine months I handed the reins over to [NHRA Professional] Lukasz Czechowicz and then we went to Guglielmo [Fontana] who is a professional I have always wanted to work with. I would like to thank my parents and everyone who helped me along the path to this second great win here in Cremona.”
Three years ago the young Spaniard had conquered all four levels of the IRHA Non Pro Futurity leaving his mark both in the arena and in the hearts of many. Edoardo Bernardelli and his own Sparkwest (Spark N Whiz x West Coast Oak) clinched the L4 Reserve Championship with a 216 score.
Riding to the $15,957-added L2 and $10,631-added L1 Non Pro Championships—as well as the L3 reserve title— was Nadine Kamintzky of Germany and Frozen Gambler, a stallion by SG Frozen Enterprize out of Surprise Me Gamble bred by Davide Brighenti.
“I bought this horse from Davide Brighenti and Emma Villa, and he has never left their barn,” said a thrilled Kamintzky. “He's entirely trained by Davide and all that this horse is today is thanks to him! I ride with Brighenti and try to go at his place as much as possible. The readon why I wanted this horse who I fell in love with and immediately found a connection with, is because I had already ridden a half-sister of his and I still have a half-brother. This is the third in the family and I couldn't be happier. He has the nerve, the talent, the style, a very big heart, and I have a good feeling all the time when riding him. This was a really good show for me, I had my 4-year-old in the finals last week, plus him in the Finals tonight.”
Matteo Capello and his own RS Cipro Jac (RS Great Jac Feona x RS Red Moon Olena) claimed reserve honors in the L2 division with a 210.5 score. Taking the reserve spot in the L1 with a 208.5 score was Alessio Pizzuti aboard his own Little Topsail Step (LMC Im Topsail Dunit x Wimpy Brooksinics).
On Saturday, November 20, the IRHA/IRHBA/NRHA Futurity will close with the Open Finals of the 2021 edition of Europe’s biggest and highest paying 3-year-old Futurity. The show in Cremona which brought together close to 700 horses started with the NRHA European Futurity run concurrently with the IRHA 4-year-old Futurity.
