Nico Sicuro of Italy performed to a 222.5, the highest score in the L4, aboard PL New York Yankees (Yankee Gun x Capitana Nic), a stallion owned by Quarter Dream Srl and bred by ELC Performance Horses LLC.
Until Sicuro entered the arena, Manuel Cortesi of Italy had held onto the L4 lead with two horses: July Jo Snap (Master Snapper x San July Jo Magnetic), a stallion owned by Giacomo Ronchi and Roberto Cuoghi—bred by the latter— and Guns N Spanish (NRHA Seven Million Dollar Sire Gunnatrashya x Spanish Lira), a stallion owned and bred by Diana Nanni. He closed his runs by posting a 221 with his first mount and a 220.5 with his second.
Level 3
Two Italian combinations scored 220 to tie for the lead in the first L3 qualifier: Mattia Nadalini aboard Wimpy Blue Dun It (NRHA Two Million Dollar Sire Pale Face Dunnit x Ruff And Tuff Wimpy), a stallion owned and bred by Carlo Sala, and Stefano Ferri riding This Guys Smart (NRHA Seven Million Dollar Sire Smart Spook x A Ruf Gal), a stallion owned by BO Ranch and bred by Rosanne Sternberg.

‘Spotlight’
Matyas Gobert of Belgium showed Southern Voodoo (NRHA Two Million Dollar Sire Shiners Voodoo Dr x Footworks For Me), a stallion bred by Jolien Rottiers, to lead the L2 go round with a 219. “He was bred at home and I liked the way he moved from day one. I trained him and his great personality always shone through. He’s special and very athletic,” said Gobert. “He is out of a mare I made the Futurity finals on—who we just sold to a friend that would like to continue breeding her—and even though plans were not to sell him, we eventually did earlier this year to one of our customers, SV Quarter Horses, who plan on keeping him in training with me.
Level 1
Italian Dino Lulli rode Igor Todini’s King Arthur Sailor (AB Captain Badger x Im A Queen Diamonds), a stallion bred by Angelucci Quarter Horses to a 216.5 to take the lead in L1.
Andrea Brozzi came in second with a 214.5 riding Andrea Pedrotti’s VD Snarling Miracle (BB One Miracle Gun x San River Clarra Clay), a mare bred by Luca Tognetti.
